Mr. Connie Monroe Skinner passed away at age 88 on June 26, 2018, in Lawrence, Kansas. Connie was born on April 13, 1930, in Pawnee County, Oklahoma to the late Lydia and Maynard Skinner. Connie attended High school in Yale, Oklahoma. From 1947 to 1950, Connie served in the United States Air Force. After his service he worked in the aircraft industry in Vietnam and Wichita, Kansas before moving to Lawrence and the automotive industry. He ultimately retired as a manager with Laird Noller Automotive. Connie had a great passion for car racing, and golf, especially in his retirement.
Connie was the loving husband of 47 years to Velma Rose (Pine). He was preceded in death by his daughter Connie Suzette, brother Charles, and sister June. Connie is survived by his wife Velma; stepsons Charles, Larry and Lonnie (Ross) Dillon; sisters, Mary and Carol; and brother Sam; as well as six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Visiting Nurses/Hospice in care of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, 601 Indiana St., Lawrence, KS, 66044.
Friends and family members may attend the visitation on Monday, July 2nd from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Rumsey -Yost Funeral Home. The funeral service, officiated by Chaplain Paul Reed, follows at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery following the service.
