He was born November 1, 1954, in Marysville, Kan., the son of Raymond and Marlene Glass. He graduated from Lawrence High School in 1972 and earned his civil engineering degree from Kansas University in 1976.
David began working at the age of 14 for Grinter Farms, outside of Lawrence. After completing his degree from KU, he began work for Peter Kiewit Corporation in Virginia. He moved back to Topeka, Kan. and began working for KCP&L in 1979. He continued his career through multiple mergers and acquisitions until retiring from Missouri Gas Energy in 2013.
He married Teresa Ledbetter on January 28, 1978, in Lawrence. In 1987, they settled in De Soto with their daughters in the house David built with the help of family. She survives of the home.
David was an avid hunter, enjoyed fishing, and being outdoors. He was a member of Tri County Rod and Gun Club where he enjoyed silhouette and other competitive shooting. Throughout his life, he enjoyed riding motorcycles as well as working on cars and car projects. He was quite the handyman and spent many hours working on home projects at his home and his daughters’ homes. He coached softball for many seasons for both daughters and volunteered his time helping them build stage sets for the De Soto High School Theatre Department. Most of all, David loved spending time with his family, especially his three grandsons, usually building with toys on the floor or reading them books.
