Elbert (EC) Leak died Fri.,Jan.13, 2012, in North Ft. Myers, Fla.
He was born in Eastern Oklahoma on May 1, 1933, and attended schools in
Okmulgee, Oklahoma State, and Kansas University. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea, and
was employed by Farmland Industries for 38 years as a Chemical
Engineer and as an Area Supervisor. Following retirement he did
consulting in the fertilizer industry world wide in the countries of
Argentina, India, Pakistan and Bulgaria and for many years was an
active member of The International Nitrogen Pollution Study Group.
He was also a life member of the Lawrence Am. Legion, the Ottawa
Elks Lodge, The Eagles and TPA.
He is survived by Nancy Leak of the home, whom he married Oct. 27,
1974 and children: Michael Leak , Grand Junction Colo., Lisa Denise
Leak, Enfield Conn., Kim Bolt and Linda Ison, Cape Coral Fla., Mark
Messany, Muskegon Mich., Karen Messany, Overland Park Kan., 12 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 3 sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
A memorial service will be announced in the spring by Rumsey-Yost
Funeral Home, 601 Indiana, Lawrence. Suggested donations may be made to the
Disabled American Veterans of the Topeka VA Hospital, the American
Legion, LMH Endowment Association, or the First Presbyterian Church Parish
Nurses.
