Funeral services for Harold C. Jehle, 95, rural Baldwin City, will be Saturday at 1 pm at St. John’s United Church of Christ, north of Worden, with the Rev. Heather Coates officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Harold Jehle passed on to glory on March 13, 2018, at the age of 95. Harold was born September 15, 1922, to Walter and Emma Jehle. He was married on February 23, 1950, to Wincel Butell.
Harold was a lifelong resident of rural Douglas County Kansas. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He came home and in 1949 opened a garage in Worden. In 1972, he sold the business and became a full time farmer north of Worden.
He was a devoted husband to Wincel, and father to two sons, Ron and Charles. He was proud of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Harold was an avid collector and attended auctions and shows collecting tools, barb wire and other antiques. He was an active member of the American Legion Lloyd Beaton Post 228.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Ivan and Edwin.
He is survived by his wife, two sons, Ron (Linda) of Hurst, Tx and Charles (Janet), Baldwin City, grandchildren Ted (Kayla) Jehle, Mark (Danielle) Jehle of Baldwin City and Sara (Gabe) Munoz of Arlington, TX. Also, his great grandchildren were McKade and Emme Jehle of Baldwin City and Amber and Isabella Munoz of Arlington,Tx.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 pm at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. John’s UCC or Visiting Nurses/Hospice, in care of the funeral home, 601 Indiana St., Lawrence, KS, 66044.
