Graveside services for Helen B. Smith, 100, Lawrence, will be 3 pm, Wednesday, October 4, 2017, at Memorial Park Cemetery.
She died Saturday, September 31, 2017, in Lawrence, surrounded by family.
Helen was born July 10, 1917, in Lawrence, the daughter of George L. and Gertrude Transue Miller. She attended Lawrence schools and graduated from Liberty Memorial High School in 1935.
She married Howard L. Smith on June 15, 1941. He preceded her in death November 29, 2003.
Helen worked for the University of Kansas in the Watson Library as a Bookbinder and retired in June 1982.
Survivors include a daughter Carol Smith of Gainesville Florida, four sisters Frances Wales, Lawrence, Margaret Roark, Bridger, Montana, Arlene Poe, Fort Mohave, Arizona, Dorothy Cox , Sacramento, California; a sister in law Margie Wiseman, Lawrence; many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Robert Miller and Richard Miller, sisters Beatrice Miller, Mildred Haas, Josephine Downing and Edith Wilcox.
