A. Monroe Helm

A. Monroe Helm, 79, Ozawkie, died at LMH Health on December 31, 2021.

Mr. Helm was born February 16, 1942, in Wynnewood. Oklahoma, the son of James Boyd and Williemae Ellen Dees Helm.  His family moved to Kansas in 1952 and he started working as a truck driver for Lawrence Freight Line for many years, then worked for Chris Truck line in Topeka until his retirement after 38 years.  Mr. Helm was a member of Teamsters local 696.

Monroe’s hobbies included gardening, camping, fishing, hunting, bowling, and oil painting.  He played in the first organized men’s slow-pitch softball in Lawrence.

Survivors include his four sons, Morgan of Iowa, Brendan of Eudora, Brett of Savannah, GA, and Jason of Springfield, GA; two daughters, Monica Dykes of Lawrence, Melissa Richter of Lawrence; a number of grandchildren and several great grandchildren; two brothers Lee and Oliver of Lawrence and three sisters, La Vern Redford, Carolyn Sue Proctor and Brenda Kuhnert, all of Lawrence.

Mr. Helm is Preceded in death by his wife Ann Helm, his parents and two brothers, David and John Helm, a brother-in-law, James Redford, and a sister-in-law, Geneva Helm.

No services are planned at this time. Mr. Helm will be cremated and inurned at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lawrence.

Monroe is a loving father, grandpa, uncle and brother, he will be greatly missed.

Tammy Lou Helm

A visitation for Tammy Lou Helm (Aka Marilyn Monroe), 56, Lawrence, will be 6-8 pm, Wednesday, February 19, 2020, at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.

She died Thursday February 13, 2020, at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka.

Tammy was born September 19, 1963, in Lawrence, Kansas the daughter of Oliver and Geneva Helm.

She attended Lawrence public schools. Tammy held a Housekeeping job for many years.

Tammy loved playing lottery scratch offs, Bingo, going to the casino. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family playing games. She thoroughly enjoyed being with her grand children.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and her son Justin who passed February 12, 2004.

Survivors include son James Helm (Isabella), grandchildren Arieanna, Keyona, Shane, Christian, Megan, Dakota, Zack, Josh; two great grand children, James and Paisley; siblings Bobby (Rhonda), Jimmy, Glenn (Carla), Roger (Lucinda), Mary Montgomery, Skip, Judy Sheley (Marty), Rita Calef (Alan), Freida Houk (Gary), Jeanetta Nichols (Kent), and very close friend Tom McKay; many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to send a special thank you to all the Nurses and Doctors at Stormont Vail who assisted in helping make Tammy’s final hours comfortable. Also a special thanks to all the friends and family who have supported us with all the actions thoughts and prayers.

Eveline King Helm

No public services are planned for Eveline King Helm, 83, Lawrence.

She died Thursday, June 6, 2019, at her home.

Eveline was born March 9, 1936, in Reichenberg, Czech Republic, the daughter of Elfried Tchirtner. She graduated from High School.

Survivors include children, Charles Wray Jr., Ricado Wray, Sabrina Wray, Raymond Wray, Michel Wray, Bettie Wray, Roger Helm, Mary Helm, Frida Helm.

Pamela J. Post-Helm

Graveside services for Pamela Jean Post-Helm, 60, Lawrence, will be 11 am, Thursday, February 9, 2017, at Oak Hill Cemetery. A visitation will take place from 6-7 pm Wednesday, at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. A memorial Mass will take place after the burial at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 1234 Kentucky St. Lawrence, KS 66044.

She died February 3, 2017, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Pamela was born November 08, 1956, in Lawrence, the daughter of Alfred Frank Post and Mabel Jo Smith Weeks.

Nothing was more important to Pamela than spending time with her children and grand children. She enjoyed family reunions and often journeyed to Arkansas to attend them. She loved watching KU basketball games, collecting precious moments and listening to Elvis Presley. She played softball for GBK and participated in a bowling league for many years.

She worked for Honeywell for 28 Years and later went to Pinnacle Career institute to become a Medical Assistant.

Pamela married Jimmy Helm in 1974, they later separated.

Survivors include two daughters Angela D. Helm, Andrea D. Helm, Lawrence; a son Ryan J. Stellwagen, Lawrence; two brother Gary W. Post (wife Lori), Cape Girardeau, MO, David L. Weeks (wife Renee), Eudora; five
grand children Ki’esha R. Mumford, Alexis K. Mumford, Christopher L. Mumford II, Ontareo X. Jackson, Frankie Ayala, all of Lawrence, numerous nieces and nephews and many more that called her granny.

She is preceded in death by her parents.
