Kirk F. Heinz

Kirk F. Heinz was born in St. Joseph, MO on April 18, 1970 to Mervyn and Sherry (Harr) Heinz of Cosby, MO.  He passed away peacefully in his sleep at home in Lawrence, KS on July 28, 2017.

He was a graduate of Savannah High School, where he was active in the band, choir, and quiz bowl team.  He was a member of the quiz bowl team that won the national championship in 1988.  He was the second recipient of the Cotillion for Achievement Scholarship.  He was a graduate of Baker University, where he was active in choir, jazz band, and Zeta Chi fraternity.  He also had an MBA from Rockhurst University.  He was working as an accountant at Swiss Re.

In 2002 he married Julie Goans.  They were blessed with three children, Jessica, Jacob, and Ellie.  Jacob passed away in 2009.

Kirk was known for his smile, sense of humor, and faith in God.  He was a devoted husband and father.  He was very active in the First Baptist Church in Lawrence, KS and in his children’s activities.

Kirk is survived by his wife, Julie; daughters Jessica and Ellie; his parents, Mervyn and Sherry Heinz; sister and brother-in-law, Leslie and Clint Thompson; several aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.

Services will be held August 3rd at 10:00 am at First Baptist Church in Lawrence, KS.  Memorials can be made to Camp Chippewa, 2577 Idaho Road, Ottawa, KS 66067-9007.
