Private family services for Larry Fisk McGlinn Sr., 86, Lawrence, will take place at a later date.
He died Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
Larry was born June 26, 1931, in Neodesha, KS, the son of Herschel Wade and Georgia F. Page McGlinn. He graduated from Neodesha High School and attended Independence Junior College before volunteering to serve his country in 1951.
He served in the US Navy during the Korean War aboard the aircraft carrier, USS Corregidor, until he was honorably discharged in 1954. He worked in the paint industry for many years before opening his own store, Paint Supply Inc. He retired from the paint business in 2007.
Larry was a lifetime member of the NRA and a longtime member of the Millcreek Rifle Club. He was a proud member of the Masonic Lodge for over fifty years. He was also a member of the VFW and the Scottish Rights. Larry enjoyed hunting and traveling the United States and was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Ascension in Neodesha.
He married Shirley Ann Rakestraw on January 26, 1955, in Bartlesville, OK, she survives of the home.
Other survivors include two daughters, Teresa (Richard) Magnuson of Lawrence, Tracey (Jack) Schafer of Lawrence, one granddaughter, Ashley McGlinn, three grandsons, A. Patrick and Jacob Magnuson and Cole Schafer and three great grandsons, Nicholas, Cameron and Parker, all of Lawrence.
Larry is preceded in death by his brother Herschel “Page” McGlinn and his beloved son, Larry Jr.
