Services for Marjorie Alice Cooley, 98, Lawrence, will be 11 am, Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at Maple Grove Cemetery, Lecompton. A visitation will be from 6-7 pm Monday, August 8, 2022, at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.
She died August 2, 2022, at her home.
Marjorie was born October 21, 1923, in Manhattan, Kansas, the daughter of Delbert Burtruam and Florence Margrett Hunter Ward.
She married Joseph C Cooley in on January 22, 1942 in Manhattan. After they were married they moved to Washington State to do construction work on Dams. Later they moved back to Kansas and bought a farm. She worked as a butcher for Harwood Meats for 38 years and Dillions for 25 years before she retired. In her free time she enjoyed being with kids and grandkids, working on the farm and being around nature.
Marjorie is preceded in death by her husband Joseph (died 1992), daughter Joyce McClenton (Died 2004), Son Le Roy Cooley (Died 2013).
Survivors include grandchildren, Bobbie Jo Smith, Joey Lipp, Eric Lipp, Tye Cooley, Tony Cooley, Clayton Cooley; ten plus great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
