Kevin Lee Rainbolt

Kevin Lee Rainbolt was born October 28, 1972 in Lawrence, Kansas. He is the son of Robert M. and Rosalee (Willoughby) Rainbolt. Kevin attended McLouth and Lawrence Schools, graduating from Lawrence High School in 1991.

He passed due to an accidental death at his home, on January 21, 2020

Kevin worked at Allen Press in the IT Department for many years. He was a computer genius and could solve nearly any computer problem. Many family members and friends often sought his assistance with their computer-related problems because we knew he wouldn’t quit until he’d figured it out – and he always did.

He and Christine Fosher have two children together, Brodey and Brenna. His children were one of the greatest joys of Kevin’s life. Anyone who had been inside Kevin’s house knew this within moments of stepping inside the door from the stacks of games, puzzles, critters, and other child-related items that filled his home. Kevin frequently enjoyed many outdoor activities with his kids. They maintained vegetable gardens in the back yard and often preserved their harvests by canning and fermenting foods. Kevin and the kids loved to play in a creek behind his sister’s house near McLouth and always went home with new additions to their collections of critters, rocks, fossils and other interesting finds. They were always seeking out new adventures and experiencing nature together. Kevin loved warm weather, fishing, and camping at Clinton Lake, biking Clinton Lake trails, and watching Chiefs football. He would also ride the Lawrence bike trails with Brodey and Brenna. He never met a hot sauce that was too spicy or a steak that he couldn’t grill.

Kevin was preceded in death by his brother David M. Rainbolt. He is survived by his children Brodey and Brenna Rainbolt of Lawrence; parents Robert M. and Rosalee (Willoughby) Rainbolt of Arkansas; sisters Tonya (Dave) Ketchum of McLouth, Sonya Rainbolt of Utah; a number of nieces and nephews, Matt (Amber) Tate of Oklahoma; Mike (Sunnie) Tate of Texas; Morhia Rainbolt of Washington; Meaghan Tate of Tonganoxie; Alexus (Jesse) McAfee of Wellsville, along with a seven great-nieces and nephews. A celebration of life is to be held on Saturday, February 29, 2020 with visitation at 10:00 a.m. and service at 11:00 a.m. at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home in Lawrence, Kansas.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Lawrence Humane Society or Lawrence Memorial Hospital, in care of the funeral home, 601 Indiana St., Lawrence, KS, 66044.
