Rex A. Ferrett

Graveside memorial services with military honors for Rex A. Ferrett, 61, Lawrence, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Mar. 22, 2011, at Oak Hill Cemetery, with Pastor Don Ogden officiating.

Mr. Ferrett died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2010, at the Dwight D. Eisenhower Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Leavenworth.

He was born Dec. 5, 1948, in Vanderbilt, Michigan, the son of William and Ruby Holborn Ferrett. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

He worked for the City of Lawrence Street Department for several years before becoming disabled. He was a lifetime member of the Alford-Clarke Post 852 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Lawrence.

He married Carol Austin on Dec. 16, 1977, in Lawrence. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include a daughter, Toni Proper, Whittemore, Mich.; a brother, Mel Ferrett, Davison, Mich.; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Les Ferrett.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the Lawrence Humane Society, in care of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, 601 Indiana St., Lawrence, KS, 66044.
