Shirley Ann Tanner Binkley Tibbits

Shirley Ann (Tanner) Tibbits, 84, of Lawrence, Ks, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday March 31st 2019, at her home.

Shirley was born February 2nd, 1935, in Lawrence; she was the daughter of Andy and Vivian (Lefferd) Tanner.

Shirley married James W. Binkley and they were blessed with four children. They lived in Clay Center, Ks for many years. Jim and Shirley owned Binkley’s Market.
After Jim’s death Shirley moved to Lawrence and worked for Lawrence Paper Co., Farmland Industries and in the Admissions Office at KU.

In 1991 Shirley wed Ben Tibbits in Las Vegas, Nev., and they made their home in Lawrence. He preceded her in death on August 9th, 2018. She was also preceded in death by her daughters, Susan Marie in 2006 and Nancy Ann in 2010.

Survivors include a half-sister Linda Keilty (Mike) of St. Louis, Mo.; sons Fred Binkley (Karen) and Kelly Binkley (Kim); nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren, with another one due in July; step-daughters Tracy Back (Mark) and Kerri Daye (Mark); and one step-grandson.

Shirley enjoyed traveling, bird watching, playing cards and Tri-Ominos with her family. Winning was her thing.

Celebration of Life visitation will be Friday April 5th, 2019, from 10 am -11:30 am at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will be at noon at Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Parkinson’s Research, or Douglas County Visiting Nurses Hospice, in care of the funeral home, 601 Indiana St., Lawrence, KS, 66044.
