Graveside inurnment for Alfred N. Wingert, 78, Lawrence, will be 2 pm, Saturday, December 5, 2020, at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, 700 East 1217 Rd. Lawrence, Kansas 66047.

Mr. Alfred N Wingert passed away on Sunday, November 15th, 2020, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born March 17th, 1942, in Lawrence, the son of Jesse and Elsie Wingert. He was educated in Lawrence, and he lived in Lawrence most of his life.

Alfred worked for General Motors, COOP, Dunbar Trucking and Excavating, and finished his career as a self-employed Truck Driver. He was an, extremely, hard-working man that took extreme pride in everything that he did. He found an abundance of joy in spending time with his family, and especially found joy in watching his grandchildren at their sporting events.

He is survived by his daughter Shellie, two grandchildren Mya and Jaden Bhinhar, all of Owasso, Oklahoma. Other survivors are brothers Lloyd, Carroll and wife Donna, sister Katherine Koehler, and many nieces and nephews.

Alfred was preceded in death by his daughter DeAnna Lynn, brothers Leo, Merle, Gene, Clarence, and Jim.

The family suggests memorials to American heart Association and American Lung Association, sent in care of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, 601 Indiana St. Lawrence, KS 66044.

Gregory Dean Wingert

Services for Gregory Dean Wingert, 58, Lawrence, KS.; visitation will be held at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home between 6pm and 7pm on Monday March 9th, 2020 followed by Graveside services at 11am, on Tuesday March 10th, 2020 and will be held at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Greg, a life-long resident of Lawrence, passed away at his home, Monday March 3rd, 2020. He was born August 18th, 1961, the son of Carroll and Darlene Wingert. His beloved mother, passed in 1994. His father Carroll remarried in 1999 to Donna Wade Wingert.

He attended Lawrence High and he worked for his family’s HVAC business for 20+ years. Greg was an incredibly talented woodworker and craftsman, he valued hard work and above all, he took pride in the quality of work he produced.

He married Tamara Wilson on November 22nd, 1980 in Eudora, Kansas. They had two daughters, Christie Wingert Palmer and Jennifer Wingert Branlund, who currently survive the home. His long-time partner, Carol Smith also survives the home and remains close with his daughters and family.

Survivors include his father, Carroll Wingert and Step-Mother Donna Wingert, Lawrence; Daughters Christie Palmer (Jeff), Argyle, TX , Jennifer Branlund (Shawn), Jacksonville, FL; a brother, Kevin Wingert (Dana Shuck)& his family, Baldwin City; a sister, Lori Wingert, Lawrence; and 3 grandchildern, Mckenzie, Britton and Baron; niece and nephew Ryan and Kailey.

All friends and family are encouraged to join in the celebration of Greg’s life on Monday for the visitation where family will receive them at the Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home between 6pm and 7pm. We also encourage you to join the family to lay Greg to rest, Tuesday March 10th at Pleasant Hill Cemetery at 11am.

Ruth J. Wingert

Graveside inurnment services for Ruth Joyce Wingert, 85, De Soto, will be 10 am, Tuesday September 27, 2016, at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

She died Sunday, September 18, 2016, at Hillside Village of De Soto, KS.

Ruth was born December 12, 1930 in Lawrence, the daughter of Orval and Nyanzia Freeman Gulley.

She attended Lawrence High School. Ruth worked for Peter Pan Ice Cream Parlor in Lawrence. Later she catered and baked cakes for many weddings and events. She owned and operated Ruth and Kids Floral Shop.
Ruth and Nolan were Campground Hosts and custodians at Bloomington campground at Clinton Lake.

Ruth married Nolan Eugene Wingert, August 25, 1949 in Lawrence, he preceded her in death on June 17, 1996. They both resided at 1723 Brook St. before she moved to the nursing facility in De Soto.

Survivors include daughter Sherrie and Husband Alvin James, Lawrence; sons Mike Wingert , Lawrence, Scott Wingert and wife Amy Wyckoff, Lawrence; grand children Cassandra Schultz and significant other Matt Wilson, Baldwin, Angie and husband Shawn Hackathorn, Colorado Springs, CO, Brandon Wingert, Jashua and Susanna Calvet; step grand children Marcel, Violet, Luke Wyckoff, all of Lawrence; great grand children Kennith and Debra Schultz, Baldwin, Nolan, Mercedes and Hayley Hackathorn, Colorado Springs, CO.

She is preceded in death by her husband Nolan and her daughter Debra Wingert who died May 4, 1959.
