Carrie Almeta Logan

Services for Carrie Almeta Logan, 93, Lawrence, will be 2pm Saturday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home & Crematory. Pastor Terry Canady of the Topeka Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ will officiate. Inurnment will take place at Leavenworth National Cemetery.

Mrs. Logan passed away Saturday, January 27, 2018, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

She was born March 15, 1924, in Ottawa, the daughter of Joseph W. Wakefield and Jessie Lee Allison. She graduated from Ottawa High School. She moved to Lawrence in 1966.

Mrs. Logan worked as a cook at Hallmark Cards and as a nurse at Ransom Memorial Hospital in Ottawa. She was a member of the Topeka Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ, Northwestern District, P.A.W. of the World.

She married Samuel Logan, January 14, 1966 in Lawrence. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include daughters, Charlesetta J. “Charlie” Charleston of Xenia, OH, Joanna A. White of Tecumseh, KS, Helen L. Wakefield of Dayton, OH, Harriet L. Holt of Topeka, KS; stepsons, Samuel Logan of Hayward, CA, Mark Logan of Wichita, KS, Scott K. Logan of Lawrence; stepdaughters, Macia D. Little of Lawrence, Debra J. Tolbert of Lawrence, Lisa D. Logan of Lawrence, Andrea J. Logan of Lawrence; 14 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Lafayette (Lafe) Allison, Charles Wakefield, Joseph Wakefield, Jr.; sisters, Juanita Allison and Mary Carson.

The family will receive friends at the conclusion of the memorial service on Saturday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Topeka Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ, sent in care of the funeral home.
