Erwin Emil William Gleue

Services for Erwin Emil William Gleue, 89, Lawrence, will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 21, 2017, at the Aliceville Kansas Cemetery, followed by a lunch at the Aliceville Lutheran Church.

Mr. Gleue died Thursday, December 15, 2016, at Brandon Woods at Alvamar in Lawrence.

He was born March 30, 1927 in Marysville, Kansas, the son of Fred H. and Alvina Riggert Gleue.

Mr. Gleue began his military career with the United States Army August 25, 1951. He served in Nuremberg, Germany, completed Army gen. school – Intel Analyst, and received 3 medals: WWII Occupation Medal, German Good Conduct Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant on August 24, 1954.

He graduated from Emporia State University in May of 1958 with a business degree. After school he worked as a bank examiner for one year. He then went on to work for the Social Security Administration as a claims representative for 30 years, retiring from the SSA office in Independence, Kansas.

Erwin married Marlene C. Quathamer, June 5, 1960 in Humboldt, Kansas. She survives at Brandon Woods Independent Living.

Other survivors include two sons, Alan Gleue of Lawrence, KS, Mike Gleue and wife Dr. Lois Wilkins of DeSoto, KS; daughter Janelle Gleue Taylor and Husband Todd of Independence, KS; grandchildren, Casey Gleue and wife Haley, Ryan Gleue, Marshall Rawley, Adam Taylor and wife Margaret, Nicole Taylor, Kyle Taylor, and Ursula Logan and husband Don.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the Jerry Marquette Radiation Oncology Center at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center Coffeyville, KS, sent in care of the funeral home.
