A Celebration of Life for Eric Edward Scott, 54, rural Lawrence, will be at 2 pm Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Kent Winters-Hazelton officiating. Eric died Tue., Dec. 6, 2016, at his home with his family by his side, following a long and courageous battle with cancer.
He was born Apr. 30, 1962, in Winfield, Kan., the son of C. Larrie and Brilla Ann Highfill Scott. He graduated from Lawrence High School in 1980, attended Friends University in Wichita where he was a member of Singing Quakers, and later graduated from Southwestern College in Winfield. Eric was an assistant manager with Meritrust Credit Union. He was a 2001 graduate of Leadership Lawrence, and a member of the Lawrence Lions Club. He was active in Junior Achievement, and in the Rock the Block fundraising event for Lawrence Memorial Hospital Oncology. He enjoyed vocal music and horses.
He married Diane Jolee Cole on Aug. 20, 1983, in Ulysses, Kan. She survives of the home. Other survivors include four children, Faryle Scott, Kansas City, Mo., and Colter Scott, Calihan Scott, and Brogan Scott, all of Lawrence; and his parents, Larrie and Brilla Scott, rural Lawrence;
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Friday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home & Crematory. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Rock the Block, in care of the funeral home, 601 Indiana St., Lawrence, KS, 66044. The family wishes to express its appreciation to LMH Oncology for their compassion and care of Eric during his illness.
