Nicole’s Family will be hosting a Celebration of Life on Sunday September 3rd from 1 pm to 3pm at Centennial Park East Shelter, 2124 W 9th Street, Lawrence. Everyone who loved Nicole is welcome.
Nicole Star Fisher, 38, of Lawrence was taken from us through an act of violence in Topeka on March 12th, 2017. Nicole was born August 28th, 1978 to Karen Fisher and Steve Swaggerty. She is survived by her mother Karen Fisher her Father Steve (Charlotte) Swaggerty; three children Brian Jacob Fisher, Savannah Elizabeth Johnson, and Ruby Anna-Leigh Klindt; sister Brandi (Kevin) Woodson, niece Jazmyne, nephew Aeron; brother Phillip Swaggerty, nieces Parker and Fiona; brother Brandon (Emily) Swaggerty, niece Ireland, nephew Braden; sister Ashlei (Chris) Babcock, niece Gretchen, nephews Sander, Reese, and Terk; Grandmothers Nancy Fisher and Belva Swaggerty, many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Nicole was a free spirit who lived her life to the fullest. Her star shined so bright that it burned out way too soon. She struggled with many demons but they didn’t stop her from being a loving, giving, soul. She loved her children, family, and friends and would give them the shirt off her back. She touched many lives. She will be forever missed by all who had the privilege of being touched by her light, especially her closest cousins Mitch, Michael, Amy and Lisa and longtime friend Sarah.
She attended schools in Baldwin City, Lawrence, and Eudora. She also attended Johnson County Community College.
In her youth she attended Coal Creek Gospel Hall and Church of Christ in Baldwin as well as First Church of the Nazarene in Lawrence
She was preceded in death by both Grandfathers: Philip Swaggerty and Ralph Fisher; Aunt Lori Welborn; Uncle Bob Fisher; Cousin Kris McDonald; and Step Father Mark Kemberling.
In Lieu of Flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Nicole Fisher Memorial Fund in care of Rumsey Yost Funeral Home.
Graveside services for Connie Fisher, 45, Lawrence, will be at 11 am Friday at Oak Hill Cemetery. Connie died unexpectedly on Thursday, Feb. 17, 2017, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
She was born Mar. 8, 1971, in Crow Agency, Montana, the daughter of Daniel R. Sr. and Delores Headswift Fisher. She graduated from high school, and later earned a bachelor’s degree in Native American studies at Haskell Indian Nations University. She was working as a kitchen assistant at South Middle School at the time of her death. Connie was a member of the Northern Cheyenne Tribe, and enjoyed reading, movies, WWE wrestling, music, relaxing, and spending time with family.
Survivors include two children, Christopher Bedeau II and Cheyenne Fisher, both of the home; her parents, Daniel and Delores Fisher, Lawrence; four siblings, Sheryl Fisher, Lawrence, Danette Fisher, Storm Lake, Iowa, Daniel Fisher Jr., Lawrence, and Lance Fisher, Arlington, Va.; and a niece, Erika Beerbower and husband Chester Jr., Lawrence.
