George M. (Sonny) Faler

Graveside services for George M. (Sonny) Faler, 84, Lawrence, will be 11 am, Monday, at Oak Hill Cemetery. A visitation will be Sunday from 5-6 pm at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.

He died Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at the Windsor of Lawrence.

Sonny was born April 9, 1933, in Lawrence, KS, the son of George Thomas and Frances Litz Faler and was raised by George and Connie Faler. He graduated from Lawrence High School.

He worked for the Sunflower Ammunition Plant, De Soto, KS. Later he became co-owner of Kaw Motors/Salvage for many years. He was a member of the Army National Guard and was honorably discharged in 1960 with the rank of Sergeant.

Sonny married Betty Ann Larson on July 22, 1951, in Lawrence, KS. She preceded him in death in 1998. He later married Florence Campbell in 2002, she survives of the home.

Other survivors include his sister, Audrey Hahn, half sister Sharon Snavely, half brother Steve Snavely, daughter Deborah Lundmark, step children Ralph & Sheila Campbell, Nancy and Tom Wilk, Keith and Audry Campbell, Gary and Sarah Campbell, Bryce and Laleigh Campbell, Randy and Debbie Campbell, Scott and Connie Campbell, six grandchildren, four great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, first wife Betty and son George (Mike) Faler.
