A Celebration of Life for Helen Lorene Dressler, 90, Baldwin City, will be at 10 am Monday at Worden United Methodist Church, with Pastor Changsu Kim, Roger Dressler, and J.D. Dressler officiating. Burial will be at 3 pm at Highland Cemetery, Iola, Kan. Mrs. Dressler died Monday, Dec. 15, 2014, at Baldwin Healthcare & Rehab. She was a resident at Vintage Park for the past few years.
She was born Mar. 23, 1924, in Moorefield, Neb., the daughter of the Rev. Tony E. and Alma Breese Howard. She graduated from Chanute High School in 1942, where she was the starting center on the basketball team at 5’7”. Lorene was a homemaker, and enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and needlework. She was a member of the Church of God of Anderson, Ind., and attended Worden United Methodist Church. Mrs. Dressler’s faith walk was such that most of her family has come to faith in Jesus Christ.
Lorene married Maurice M. Dressler on Sept. 1, 1942, in Chanute. He survives of Vintage Park. Other survivors include three sons, Maurice H. ‘Moe’ Dressler and wife Fran, Jacksonville, Fla. Roger Dressler and wife Norma, Baldwin City, and Truman Dale Dressler, Baldwin City; grandchildren Daryl (Mary) Dressler, Teri Dressler, and Tina (Frank) Selvera, Lori (Dennis) Lederer, J.D. (Stacey) Dressler, Rusty (Sharla) Dressler, and Kelly (Mike) Wintermantel; great grandchildren Zachary, Mallory, Emma, and Isabella Selvera, Chelsea Lederer, Whitney (Chris) Brubaker, Johnny Lederer, Macie, Miles, and Millie Dressler, Chase, Kalen, Kelby, and Kynlee Dressler; and Clayton, Carter, and Caden Wintermantel; and a great great granddaughter, Lane,
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Everette, and three sisters, Lola Guffey, Leona Beer, and Lula Malzon.
