Funeral services for Margaret Janice Douglas, 82, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will be in Hubbel Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Douglas died Friday, December 23, 2016, at Tonganoxie Nursing Center.
She was born January 26, 1934, in Lawrence, the daughter of Cecil F. and Imogene Robertson Howard. She graduated from Liberty Memorial High School and attended the University of Kansas. She has lived in the Lawrence area all of her life.
Mrs. Douglas was a homemaker, member of the First United Methodist Church, and Sigma Kappa Sorority. She was an avid KU and sports fan. She enjoyed cats and animals, playing bingo, and especially knowing what her grandchildren were up to.
She married Lloyd Charles Douglas on January 12, 1958, in Lawrence. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons, Mark Douglas (Kathy) of Lawrence, Steven Douglas (Norma) of Fredericksburg, VA; a daughter, Cheryl Alley (Henry Green) of Lawrence; 8 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and 2 on the way.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, where the family will receive them from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday.
The family suggests memorials to The Salvation Army or the Lawrence Humane Society, sent in care of the funeral home.
