Services for Wayne Allen Walker, 59, Lawrence, will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday at River City Church with the Rev. William A. Dulin officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Walker died Wednesday, January 11, 2023.
He was born July 28, 1963, in Lawrence, the youngest son of Glen Howard Walker and June Wilma Wilhoite-Walker.
He graduated from Lawrence High School in 1982. He worked for Harris Construction and went on to work for other construction companies. He was a member of the Local Laborers Union #1290. Mr. Walker was a member of River City Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Delores E. Walker, and his brothers, Michael Lewis and Perry Walker.
Survivors include his wife, Lynn, Lawrence; his son, Scott, Lawrence; two brothers, Glen H. Walker, Jr. (Kristen), Lawrence and John W. Walker (Karen), Indiana; and two sisters, Wilma J. Walker, Lawrence, and Alice Walker-Flemming (Cedric), Texas, mother-in-law, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, uncles and aunts, nephews and nieces, and a host of cousins.
Mr. Walker loved the KU Jayhawks, Kansas City Chiefs, and was lovingly-called the “mayor of the block”. He was also a member of the McDonald’s tea social club at 6th and Michigan.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, where the family will meet with friends.
