Phyllis Jean Williams

Phyllis Jean Williams died July 15, 2019 in her home. She was born June 24, 1941 the daughter of Ray and Ora Allen. Phyllis was a registered nurse for forty years in various hospitals in Wichita, Topeka and Lawrence. She retired from St. Francis Hospital in Topeka, Kansas in 2002 to care for and spoil her grandchildren who were one of her biggest joys in life. As her grandchildren grew up she enjoyed doing puzzles with her great grandchildren and loved to read.

Survivors include her husband, Jerry, four children Allen Williams (Karla), Aaron Williams (Julie), Shane Williams and Noreena Williams, five grandchildren Shane Billig (Kyla), Cameron Williams (Christine), Brittany Morgan, Katie Morgan, and Banner Williams and two great grandchildren Braxton Williams and Abbie Chester. She is also survived by her sister Janet Habluetzel and two brothers Richard and Don Allen and many nieces and nephews.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

Virginia Ann Williams

Virginia Ann Williams, 80, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2018.

Born Virginia Ann Hampton on September 14, 1937, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, she is predeceased by her parents Ethel Maude McClurg Hampton and Matt Wilson Hampton and her brother Matt Wilson Jr. Hampton. She married the love of her life, Jim (James Herbert) Williams on August 25, 1961, and they were inseparable and devoted to each other for almost 57 years.

Virginia is survived by Jim, daughters Jennifer (Jay) Tusten, Ulysses, and Ellen Chindamo, Lawrence, and grandchildren Katarina (Bem) Pelletier, Lara, Mary and Natalie Tusten and Siena Casagrande, Dawson and Sophia Chindamo, and great-granddaughter Ava Pelletier.

Virginia always loved education and attended Oklahoma State University where she received a BS in home economics and elementary education and was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She met Jim at the First Baptist Church where her father was his Sunday School teacher. As was the college tradition at the time, Jim pinned her with his Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity pin following graduation and proposed to her on Mount Scott in Lawton, Oklahoma.

When Virginia and Jim were first married, she taught while Jim was in the Air Force and continued her love for teaching young children in elementary education all of her life. They moved to Lawrence in 1962, where she continued to teach and she and Jim were active in the community, loved the arts and attended many events. Virginia was devoted to her family and she and Jim shared with them their passion for travel all over the United States, Caribbean and Europe. Her very favorite place to visit always remained Paris. She participated in many bridge groups, loved shopping with her girlfriends, cooking from scratch and working in her garden.

She was very brave and fought a long and difficult battle with multiple myeloma and the family is grateful to the many family, friends, and caregivers who helped her for many years. They are especially grateful to Dr. Don Hatton, Dr. Christopher Penn, Dr. Matt Stein, Dr. Jodie Barr, Dr. Lida Osbern, Dr. Shari Quick and the staff of Lawrence Memorial Hospital and Dr. Martha Lacy at the Mayo Clinic for all of their excellent care.

The memorial service will take place on Friday, August 17 at 10:00 am at the First Southern Baptist Church, 4300 West 6th Street, Lawrence. A lunch reception will follow at the church. Robert J (Bobby) Williams Jr

Funeral services for Robert J (Bobby) Williams Jr, 56, Perry, will be 10 am, Wednesday December 13, 2017, at the Free Methodist Church in Lawrence, Ks. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Perry, Ks.

He died Wednesday, December 06, 2017, at his home surrounded by his family.

Bobby was born November 12, 1961, in Lawrence, KS, the son of Robert J and Betty Ann Nichols Williams. He graduated from Perry-Lecompton High School in 1980.

He worked for Jefferson County Sheriffs Dept for 6 years. University of Kansas Public Safety Office for 28 years. Hobbies included collecting sports memorabilia, trading challenge coins with other departments, collecting law enforcement patches from other agencies, he was an avid Star Trek and K-state fan.

Bobby married Tamara A Cumpton on September 20, 1986, she survives of the home.

Other survivors include, a daughter, Whitney Brown, son in-law, Steven Brown, both of Lawrence, a daughter, McKenzie Williams, son in-law, Joseph Morris, both of Lawrence; a sister, Marlene Blosser, (Tim Blosser), both of Perry, a brother, Bryan Williams, (Wendi Williams), both of Perry; two granddaughters, Kayleigh Brown, and Harlee Brown of Lawrence.

Friends may call from noon to 8 pm, Tuesday December 12, 2017, at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. A visitation will take place from 6-8 pm.
