Roy E. Axline
Services for Roy E. Axline, 85, Edmond, Oklahoma, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 14 at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, 601 Indiana St., Lawrence, Kansas. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Axline passed peacefully on Saturday, August 5, 2017, in Edmond, Oklahoma.
He was born and raised in Lawrence, Kansas to Carl and Mary Axline. He graduated from University High School in 1950.
Mr. Axline served in the U.S. Navy in 1951. A faithful servant of Christ, he was a member of Southside Church of Christ for many years. He worked for Reuter Organ Factory in Lawrence for 26 years, where he met the love of his life, Donna, with whom he enjoyed 57 years of marriage.
He was a father that was always available for the needs of his children, whether it was driving them to college in a snow storm, or coming to rescue them from a vehicle breakdown on the way to or from college. He was the caregiver for his special needs daughter who he called his “special sweetheart”. His hobbies included golfing, fishing and woodworking. He enjoyed making wooden train and car sets that he gave to his grandchildren. They were exceptionally handcrafted and they will be keepsakes for years to come. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Mary Axline; and a daughter, Sherri Axline.
Survivors include a loving wife, Donna; two daughters, Carol & husband Steve Zedler of New Hampshire; Diana & husband Tim Grande of Edmond, Oklahoma; 6 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the United Cerebral Palsy Foundation, sent in care of the funeral home.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of Good Shepherd Hospice of Edmond, Oklahoma for their kindness and compassion.
Ardellee Mona Coons
Ardellee Mona Coons, 90, formerly of Derby, passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at the home of her son and his wife in Lawrence, Kan. Memorial service, Wednesday, August 9, 11 a.m., First Presbyterian Church of Derby.
Mrs. Coons was a retired supervisor for the Census Bureau, U.S. Department of Commerce. Throughout her life in Derby, she was an active member of many community organizations, including First Presbyterian Church of Derby.
She married Ernest Dale Coons on March 14, 1948, in Pittsburg, Kan. Mr. Coons preceded her in death.
Survivors include daughter, Linda Voth (David), of Derby; son, Doyle Coons (Kim), of Lawrence; sister, Marcellee Dittmer, of Marshall, Mo.; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and another on the way, along with many nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church in Derby and Derby Public Library.

Nicole Lynn Pollard
Memorial Mass services for Nicole Lynn Pollard, 45, Lawrence, will be 11 am, Tuesday, August 8, 2017, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
She died unexpectedly, August 1, 2017, at her home.
Nicole was born June 29, 1972, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter f Ronald H. and Lynn E. Goodwald Lusmann.
Survivors include her parents, daughter, Anne Pollard and son, George Pollard.

Ruthan A. Rumbaugh
Ruthan A. Rumbaugh, 98, Ottawa, passed away Monday, July 31, 2017, at Ottawa Retirement Village.
She was born May 15, 1919, in Purcell, Oklahoma, to George Alfred & Mary Virginia Wright Lawson.
She worked as a seamstress and did many other things over the years.
Ruthan attended a Southern Baptist Church and enjoyed reading, sewing, and cooking.
She married Charles Emery Rumbaugh, he preceded her in death.
Survivors include daughters, Jean Hall of Mesa, Arizona, Bobby Keeter of Mesa, Arizona, Lavada Bartley of Aransas Pass, Texas, and Mary Neppl of Pomona, Kansas; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by sons, Billy Don Rumbaugh and George A. Rumbaugh; daughters, Nona Kirby and Charlene Goodrum; two brothers and three sisters.
Kirk F. Heinz
Kirk F. Heinz was born in St. Joseph, MO on April 18, 1970 to Mervyn and Sherry (Harr) Heinz of Cosby, MO. He passed away peacefully in his sleep at home in Lawrence, KS on July 28, 2017.
He was a graduate of Savannah High School, where he was active in the band, choir, and quiz bowl team. He was a member of the quiz bowl team that won the national championship in 1988. He was the second recipient of the Cotillion for Achievement Scholarship. He was a graduate of Baker University, where he was active in choir, jazz band, and Zeta Chi fraternity. He also had an MBA from Rockhurst University. He was working as an accountant at Swiss Re.
In 2002 he married Julie Goans. They were blessed with three children, Jessica, Jacob, and Ellie. Jacob passed away in 2009.
Kirk was known for his smile, sense of humor, and faith in God. He was a devoted husband and father. He was very active in the First Baptist Church in Lawrence, KS and in his children’s activities.
Kirk is survived by his wife, Julie; daughters Jessica and Ellie; his parents, Mervyn and Sherry Heinz; sister and brother-in-law, Leslie and Clint Thompson; several aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.
Services will be held August 3rd at 10:00 am at First Baptist Church in Lawrence, KS. Memorials can be made to Camp Chippewa, 2577 Idaho Road, Ottawa, KS 66067-9007.
Lucille M. Tuckel
Graveside inurnment for Mrs. Lucille Tuckel, 97, a lifelong Lawrence resident, will be 10:30 am Friday August 4, 2017, at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Tuckel died Sunday, July 30, 2017, at Brandon Woods at Alvamar.
She was born September 2, 1919, to Raymond and Susie Love.
Lucille married Robert Tuckel, December 31, 1942, at the home of her parents, during a Kansas ice storm.
She spent her life caring for her family, which included growing a large vegetable garden every summer. Being the wife of a dairy farmer didn’t leave much spare time. She enjoyed taking car rides at sunset and having autumn picnics.
Lucille is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years in 2000, her parents, two sisters and three brothers.
Survivors include two children, Judy Troupe (Jeff) of Oakland, Nebraska, and Stephen Tuckel (Criselle) of Sedalia, Colorado, four grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
