There will be a traditional Buddhist ceremony for Bouppha Sengsathevane of Lawrence, KS on Saturday, September 23rd at 1 pm at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home & Crematory. The family will receive friends from 5-8 pm Friday at the funeral home.
Bouppha died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2017, at his home. He was born May 6, 1935 in Nakonphanom, Thailand. He is the son of Thip and Oui Sengsathevane. He graduated from high school. The family came to the United States from Laos in 1981. Bouppha worked and retired as a machine operator at Berry Plastics. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, gardening, and spending time with his family.
He married Khamphet Phaopacheurth in Lawrence, KS. She survives of the home. He is survived by his five children, Noy Powkom in Lawrence, KS, Souvanna Sooksengdao in Olathe, KS, Kanhnika Khanthavixay in St. Louis, MO, Patthana St. John, Overland Park; Somboun Byer in Lawrence, KS and Somphanh Sengsathevane in England. Also, survived by his sister, Homchanh Khankeo in St. Louis, MO and a brother Sathianephong Phioukham in St. Catharines, Ontario. He has twelve grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Phouthong ‘Airr’ Kinsky and first wife Kong Sengsathevane.
