Misty Dawn Nichols

Misty Dawn Nichols was born January 29, 1980 to JoLee Elston and Calvin Nichols.  She had two children that were her life, Seth Michael  and Brooklynne Jo Dawn.  On May 1, 2017, Seth was killed in an accident.  On March 11, of the same year, her mother died.  She grieved their passing every day.

Misty and Brooklynne were a dynamic duo!!  Misty fought a great fight for many years with so many health issues, Brooklynne was an amazing caregiver!

On March 15th Misty’s battle ended.  She has all her limbs now and is completely well!!  She leaves behind her daughter, Brooklynne, as well as her Dad, Calvin, and her three brothers Jeremy, Justin and Dominik.

Celebration of life for Misty Nichols will be Noon Sat. March 25 at Eagles #309. Contributions welcome at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.

William “Bill” Nichols

William “Bill” Nichols, 62, Tonganoxie, Gained his wings may 11, 2017, at his home surrounded by family and friends. He lost his long hard battle with cancer.

Graveside inurnment will be 2 pm, Friday May 19, 2017, at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Bill was born October 4, 1954, in Lawrence, the son of Clifford and Bessie Nichols

He lived most of his early years in Lawrence before venturing out west, where he lived in Colorado, Wyoming and Oregon. Bill spent many years camping and hunting elk and deer in the mountains. While living in Oregon he developed a passion for horses and loved and loved and cared for two of his own, Penny and Cody.

Bill’s love of cowboy history led him to become a twenty year member of SASS (Single Action Shooting Society). He competed in many matches along the west coast and won multiple awards for his shooting talent.

He was a master carpenter and owned and operated his construction company, Magic Touch while in Oregon. Bill was currently working for the University of Kansas in their Facility Services Department, as a Senior Carpenter. Bill had a love for classic cars and spent countless hours rebuilding his 67 Nova LETRBUK. He took great pride in accomplishing his huge task by himself.

Bill was married to Kathy Martin, they later divorced. He married Susan Nichols, they later divorced. He is survived by his life partner, Michelle Elston, she survives of the home.

Other survivors include a daughter Beth Nichols (Kenny), a stepson Jason and step daughter Kayla, all of Lawrence. Bill as three brothers; Charlie, Calvin and Donnie Nichols and seven grandchildren, all of Lawrence.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Bill’s quick wit will be missed, he enjoyed seeing the reaction he received from people with his quick comebacks.

The family wishes to thank the Midland Hospice Group for their compassionate care and support during his battle.

Friends may call on Thursday where a visitation will take place from 5:30-6:30 pm, at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.
