Memorial services for Vivian Elizabeth Quinlan Miller, 100, Lawrence, will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday July 18th at Trinity Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Miller died Friday, July 3, 2015 at Bridge Haven in Lawrence. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Vivian was born January 16, 1915 in Hartford, Kansas, the daughter of Wendell Pendleton and Florence Bales Quinlan. She graduated from Linwood High School in 1932 and went to Emporia State Teachers College. She taught school for 2 years in rural Leavenworth County before her marriage to Harry R. Miller, Sr. on September 6, 1936 in Linwood, Kansas. He passed away in 1978.
Mrs. Miller was a homemaker and farming partner. She was particularly proud of the fruits and vegetables she grew, canned and froze for later use. She also maintained many flowerbeds around the dream home they built in the 1950’s. Vivian loved to entertain and was a gracious hostess for many out of town family and guests. She enjoyed playing bridge with neighbor friends and participating in social clubs such as the All-Sew Club and Oakridge Birthday Club. She also enjoyed traveling with her grandchildren. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church for 73 years.
Survivors include two sons, Bruce Miller of Overland Park, Harry Miller, Jr. and wife Shirley of Syracuse, NY; daughter, Nancy Reiling of Lawrence; seven grandchildren, Richard Miller, Gretchen Schultz, Jeff Miller, Elizabeth Hubbard, Heidi Reiling, Kelly Reiling, Tina Reiling; and nine great grandchildren, Justin Miller, Luke Miller, Sara Miller, Lauren Schultz, Katie Schultz, Eric Schultz, Avery Ulinskas, Alyssandra Ulinskas, and Owen Hubbard.
Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother, Kenneth Quinlan; and two sisters, Maurine Lamb and Jean Mohler.
