Wilworth “Harold” Kincaid, 88, passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2013. He was born on April 22, 1925 in Price Hill, West Virginia to Porter and Mary Kincaid.
Harold grew up in Price Hill, West Virginia and graduated from Mount Hope High School in 1942. After high school he worked in the grocery business until he was inducted in the United States Army Air Corps later to become the Air Force.
He served in England two times, Germany, Japan and Thailand serving during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. In all he gave 30 years of service to our country. He was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal, Presidential Unit Citation medal, multiple good conduct medals from the Army and Air Force, multiple campaign ribbons and the Air Force Longevity Service Award. He retired from the Air Force Reserve as a Senior Master Sergeant in 1973.
In 1970 he moved to Lawrence, Kansas where he accepted the position as the Technical Director of a local radio station, KLWN and KLZR until 1984.
Harold married Edith on July 1, 1945 in Mount Hope, West Virginia. They were happily married for 68 years.
Harold was a member of the Church of Christ and a devout Christian. He had a passion for classical music and opera. He was an avid reader and had a great knack for technology.
Harold is survived by his wife, Edith, his five children, Regenia, Victoria, Patricia, Rebekah and Steven, eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, and his brother Jimmy.
A visitation will be held at the Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 from 6 to 8 pm.
A memorial service will be held at the Southside Church of Christ at 1 pm on August 15, 2013. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Flowers are welcomed or in lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association or the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
