The Rev. Allan R. Madden

The Rev. Allan R. Madden returned to his heavenly home on December 17, 2014, at the age of 88. He passed away with family present in his home, Lawrence, Kansas.

Memorial services for Allan are scheduled for Saturday, December 20, at 2:00PM at Trinity Episcopal Church, Lawrence, Kansas. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Allan’s life. Allan is survived by his wife, Marolyn Madden of Wichita, KS; children, A. Robert Madden and wife Deann of Broken Arrow, OK, John R. Madden and wife Teresa of McPherson, KS, and Anne Madden Johnson and husband Kelly of Lawrence, KS; nephew, James Madden of Houston, TX; and grandchildren, Emily and Trevor Johnson. He is preceded in death by wife, Ruth Eaton; grandson, Logan Madden; brothers, William Madden and Henry Madden, and his parents, Ruth and Hugh Madden.

Allan was born on May 17, 1926, in Galveston, TX to Hugh Logan and Ruth Emily LeWald Madden. He grew up in southern Texas, and held several occupations, including working on his father’s tugboat, and as a racetrack photographer with his brother, Bill. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles, and owned several Harley Davidsons. He was a proud Navy veteran, and served our country during WWII and Korea. He married Gwendolyn Joann Ayers on August 9, 1949, and was later blessed with three children, Robert, John, and Anne. He graduated from Baylor University in Waco, TX, in 1951 with a BA in Chemistry. He later graduated from the Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest in Austin, TX, in 1963 with a Masters of Divinity. He was later ordained as an Episcopal priest in Navasota, TX, in 1964. His passion in serving his Lord for 50 years gave him many opportunities to spread the Gospel in many locations and congregations throughout Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Kansas. He ultimately settled in Lawrence, Kansas, and was an active member of Trinity Episcopal Church, and enjoyed visits with his grandchildren.

Allan was an avid stamp collector, and often shared his enthusiasm with his grandchildren. He was also very interested in the theater and performed in many plays over the course of his life. He was witty and enjoyed conversation and joking with others, and had a generous spirit, giving to many charities. He was a proud Texan, an active Democrat, and had a heart of gold, never seeing the bad in others. He will be missed.

Cecil G. Teeter

Memorial services for Cecil Glenn Teeter, 96, Lawrence, KS, will be held next spring in La Porte City, IA, with inurnment in West View Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post #207.

Mr. Teeter died on December 16, 2014.

He was born October 29, 1918, in La Porte City, IA, the son of Glenn and Margaret (Sawyer) Teeter. He graduated from La Porte City High School in 1936, and attended Iowa State Teachers College (now University of Northern Iowa). He was a member of Alpha Delta Alpha fraternity.

He married Emma Elizabeth Larsen in 1942, in West Palm Beach, FL. She preceded him in death in 2010.

Mr. Teeter served in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1945, as Second Lieutenant, Signal Corps, and Captain, Officer Reserve Corps. During World War II he served in North Africa, Italy, France, and Germany attached to the Air Corps. He earned the American Campaign medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern medal with nine combat stars and bronze arrowhead, and the WWII Victory medal. He was recalled to active duty from 1950 to 1952 during the Korean Conflict, serving as Company Commander at Camp Gordon, GA, and Camp Cooke, CA.

Mr. Teeter became a manager for AT&T in several departments; during his 38-year career with them he worked in Iowa City, Kansas City, New York City, Washington, D.C, and Kansas City again. In retirement he lived in Roeland Park, KS, Mesa, AZ, and Lawrence, KS. He was a member of the Village Presbyterian Church and its Men’s Club during the years he lived in Prairie Village, KS. He served three years as an elected officer of the retired Telephone Pioneers in the Kansas City area. He was a member of American Legion Post #207 in La Porte City, IA.

Survivors include a son, Steven Teeter (Sharon), Campbell, CA; two daughters, Marilyn Teeter, Lawrence, KS, and Patricia Zara (George), Aiken, SC; three brothers, Clare Teeter, Peoria, AZ, Truman Teeter, San Gabriel, CA, and James Teeter (Maria), Portland, OR; a sister, Dorothy Frericks (Marvin), Denver, IA; a sister-in law, Ann Larsen, Clear Lake, IA; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a granddaughter, Ann Kandybowicz; two brothers and their wives, Robert & Maxine Teeter and William & Cecile Teeter; two sisters-in-law, Juanita (Mrs. Clare) Teeter and Marie (Larsen) Kogen; and a brother-in-law, Carl Larsen.

Helen Lorene Dressler

A Celebration of Life for Helen Lorene Dressler, 90, Baldwin City, will be at 10 am Monday at Worden United Methodist Church, with Pastor Changsu Kim, Roger Dressler, and J.D. Dressler officiating. Burial will be at 3 pm at Highland Cemetery, Iola, Kan. Mrs. Dressler died Monday, Dec. 15, 2014, at Baldwin Healthcare & Rehab. She was a resident at Vintage Park for the past few years.

She was born Mar. 23, 1924, in Moorefield, Neb., the daughter of the Rev. Tony E. and Alma Breese Howard. She graduated from Chanute High School in 1942, where she was the starting center on the basketball team at 5’7”. Lorene was a homemaker, and enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and needlework. She was a member of the Church of God of Anderson, Ind., and attended Worden United Methodist Church. Mrs. Dressler’s faith walk was such that most of her family has come to faith in Jesus Christ.

Lorene married Maurice M. Dressler on Sept. 1, 1942, in Chanute. He survives of Vintage Park. Other survivors include three sons, Maurice H. ‘Moe’ Dressler and wife Fran, Jacksonville, Fla. Roger Dressler and wife Norma, Baldwin City, and Truman Dale Dressler, Baldwin City; grandchildren Daryl (Mary) Dressler, Teri Dressler, and Tina (Frank) Selvera, Lori (Dennis) Lederer, J.D. (Stacey) Dressler, Rusty (Sharla) Dressler, and Kelly (Mike) Wintermantel; great grandchildren Zachary, Mallory, Emma, and Isabella Selvera, Chelsea Lederer, Whitney (Chris) Brubaker, Johnny Lederer, Macie, Miles, and Millie Dressler, Chase, Kalen, Kelby, and Kynlee Dressler; and Clayton, Carter, and Caden Wintermantel; and a great great granddaughter, Lane,

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Everette, and three sisters, Lola Guffey, Leona Beer, and Lula Malzon.

Helen Susie Seetin

A Memorial service for Helen Susie Seetin, 56, Lawrence will be 10 am, Saturday, December 20, 2014, at Centenary United Methodist Church, 245 North Elm Street, in North Lawrence.

She died Thursday, December 11, 2014, at her home.

Helen was born October 27, 1958, in Lawrence, the daughter of Stanley and Agnes Spitzli House.

She attended the School of Nursing in Topeka where she received her LPN Certification. Helen loved to read, play games on her phone, and most important, take care of her family.

Helen married John Seetin at Centenary United Methodist Church, in 1991, he survives at the home.

Other survivors include her son Samual Elliot Seetin; Daughter Mischell Nicole Seetin; brothers Gene House, Ron House, Fred House, Kent House; sister Nancy House; grandson Isaiah Simpson.

E. Donald Seba

E. Donald Seba, 90, died on Tuesday (Dec. 9) at the Tonganoxie Nursing Center, Tonganoxie, Kansas, following a long illness.

Seba was born on June 11, 1924 to Erwin Daniel and Clara Moneymaker Seba. He grew up on the family farm near Raymore, Missouri, and graduated from Raymore High School in 1942.

He entered the U.S. Army in 1944, serving as Sherman tank crewman in the 777th Tank Battalion attached to the 28th and 69th Infantry Divisions in the Rhineland and Central Europe campaigns in the European Theater of Operations from February through May 1945.

Following discharge from the Army in 1946, he returned to farming with his family.

He married Rhea Alexander on Nov. 27, 1954. They were married for nearly 58 years until her death on Oct. 15, 2012.

Seba graduated from Finlay Engineering College in Kansas City, Missouri in 1959. He was a licensed professional engineer in the states of Missouri, Kansas and Wyoming and worked for the Kansas Highway Department, Wyoming Highway Department, Kansas City-area private engineering firms and as city engineer of Harrisonville, Missouri, between 1960 and 1970.

Seba became Director of Public Works and City Engineer for the City of Leavenworth, Kansas in 1971. He left the City of Leavenworth in 1978 to become General Manager of Bromley & Sons Quarry and Asphalt. He retired from Bromley & Sons in 1988.

During his retirement, Seba enjoyed gardening, reading, participating in the Atchison United Methodist Church, and providing advice and support to his sons, granddaughter, brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, George Edward Seba, and Maurice Seba and a sister, Karen Kreisel.

Seba is survived by his sons, Erwin George Seba, Pearland, Texas; S.D. Seba, Leavenworth; a granddaughter, Cassie Seba, Pearland, Texas; a brother, Fred M. Seba of Bosworth, Missouri; sisters Clara Beth Saunders, Liberty, Missouri; Mary Ann Newman, Slater, Missouri, and Linda Matthews of McLean, Virginia, along with nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

In addition to the United Methodist Church, Seba was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Leavenworth Kiwanis.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, December 13, 2014 at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home & Crematory in Lawrence, Kansas.

Deborah Kaye Lynch

Deborah Kaye Lynch, 64, Topeka, No services are planned at this time.

Mrs. Lynch died Saturday, November 29, 2014, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

She was born February 16, 1950, in Lawrence, the daughter of Lawrence E. & Betty M. Tarpy Stellwagen Jr. She graduated from Lawrence High School in 1968.

Deborah married James Albert Lynch, February 5, 2010 in Oskaloosa, Kansas. He survives of the home.

Mrs. Lynch worked at Allen Press and Bert Nash before retiring. She enjoyed playing solitaire on her computer and checking her email. She was a devoted daughter and enjoyed spending time with family.

Other survivors include her parents, Lawrence and Betty Stellwagen Jr. of Perry, KS; a son, Steven Bradley and wife Kris of Lawrence; brother, Lawrence Stellwagen, III of Oswego, KS; 7 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren.

Martin Bailey Valdez

Services for Martin Bailey Valdez, Lawrence, will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.

Martin was born and passed on November 27, 2014, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, the son of James and Melanie Valdez (formerly Martin).

Martin is survived by 7 siblings: Jordan Hull – Lawrence, KS; Grant Hull – El Paso, TX; Teagan Valdez – Meriden, KS; along with Perry Hull, Isaac Hull, Connor Valdez and Raymond Valdez all of the home.

He is also survived by paternal grandparents Kimo and Windy Plakio of Topeka, KS; maternal grandparents Thomas and Betty Martin of Odessa, MO and Janice and Doug Gum of Mayview, MO.

Martin passed away peacefully in the arms of his mother and father. He provided his family a lifetime of love in his short time on earth.

Wallace E. Sehrt

A gathering and memorial service for Wallace E. Sehrt, 84, Lawrence include fellowship from 1:30pm to 3:30pm Saturday December 6th at Ebenezer United Church of Christ, Augusta Missouri. Memorial Service scheduled 2pm with dessert and beverages afterwards.

Mr. Sehrt was preceded in death by all immediate family members. Survived by Wife Lela, sons John and his wife Maureen of Washington Missouri, Steve of Marthasville, daughters Michelle Lynn and husband Clinton of Lawrence Kansas, and Christina of Marthasville Missouri, Six grandchildren, Christopher and Melissa Sehrt of Washington Missouri ; Micheal and Karla Sehrt of Marthasville and Villa Ridge Missouri ; and Tanner and Bria Lynn of Lawrence, Kansas and many other beloved friends and family members Who are excited to look expectantly towards seeing him again in Heaven through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
