Clifford Edward Henson

Funeral services for Clifford Edward Henson, 84, formerly of Lawrence, will be at 2 pm Friday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, with Pastor Mike Vernon officiating.  Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. He passed away May 6, 2014, in Aransas Pass, TX.

Clifford was born December 21, 1929 in Garden City, Missouri. He graduated from Liberty Memorial High School in 1948. He worked at Lawrence Laundry & Dry Cleaners right out of high school where he met his wife of 64 years, Nola Mae Schweitzberger. He also worked at Denver Laundry & Dry Cleaners. Later in life he worked & retired from ConAgra in Denver, Colorado. Upon retiring, they became “snowbirds” in Aransas Pass, Texas full time, where he was able to enjoy his passion for fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Nola, daughters Debra Lowrey of Denver, CO,  Dianne Greene of Knotts Island, NC, Denise Dunlap of Bennett, CO, and Danine Ehn of Greeley, CO; a son, David Henson of Phoenix, AZ; 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; a sister, Pauline Rietzel of Bonner Springs, KS; and a brother, Wilbur Henson of Tonganoxie, KS.

The family will receive friends from 1 pm until service time Friday. The casket will remain closed. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to River City Hospice of Alice, TX, or the American Cancer Society, in care of the funeral home, 601 Indiana St., Lawrence, KS, 66044.
