Funeral services for Kelly Ann Nelson, 53, Eudora, will be at 1 pm Friday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home & Crematory, with Rev. Bud Elliott officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Kelly died Thursday, May 11, 2017, at her home, following a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born Oct. 28, 1963, in Lawrence, the daughter of Harold L. Godfrey & Marian E. Robson. She graduated from Lawrence High School. She worked in electronics manufacturing most of her working life, most recently as a project planner for SelexES. She enjoyed Chiefs football and KU basketball, reading, and music. Her biggest passion was her family.
She married James Edward Nelson on Sept. 10, 1997, in Lawrence. He survives of the home. Other survivors include three children, Heather Pollard and husband Justin, Eudora, Brandan Helm, Eudora, and James Nelson, Eudora; her father and step mother, Harold and Colletta Godfrey, Winchester; two siblings, Shelly Wise, Eudora, and Scott Godfrey, Topeka; six step siblings, Elizabeth Hall, Eudora, Bonnie Davis, Perry, Eddie, Kenny Hess, Linda Goff, Lawrence, and Ruth Ann Vermillion, Andover; and five grandchildren, Rylie, Chase, Payton, Reese, and Reagan. She was preceded in death by her mother, Marian E. Hess, step father John H. Hess, and step brother Johnny.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, in care of the funeral home, 601 Indiana St., Lawrence, KS, 66044.
