Graveside services for Martha Ann ‘Marty’ Learned, 87, Lawrence, will be at 2:15 pm Monday at Oak Hill Cemetery, with the Rev. Dr. Peter A. Luckey officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm Monday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, and will then process to the cemetery. Marty passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
She was born Nov. 25, 1926, in Lawrence, the daughter of Robert E. Sr. and Georgia Ann Hanson Learned. She graduated from Liberty Memorial High School, and later attended the University of Kansas. She was an accountant for Allen Press for 47 years. She enjoyed pets, especially her dog Dutchess.
Survivors include two brothers, George R. Learned, M.D., Lawrence, and Robert E. Learned Jr. and wife Iona, Manhattan; two sisters-in-law, Marge Learned, Biloxi, Miss., and Dixie Learned, Wichita; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Edmund, and Col. Albert Learned.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Sue Reeder, Kathleen Womack, and Cassidy Womack for their kindness and care of both Martha and Dutchess.
