Mayme Catherine Freeman

Memorial services for Mayme Catherine Freeman, 74, Tonganoxie, will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home & Crematory.

Mrs. Freeman died Saturday, May 3, 2014, at the Tonganoxie Nursing Center.

She was born July 4, 1939, in Brixey, Missouri, the daughter of Arthur Loren and Martha Elizabeth Parker Brown.

Mrs. Freeman worked at Hallmark Cards for 21 years as a machine operator. She enjoyed spending time with family, crossword puzzles, word games, being outdoors, bird watching, and attending church.

She married Walter Jackson Freeman July 19, 1957 in Washington. He died March 3rd of 2000.

Survivors include 10 children, step son Tarry Freeman of Alamo, TX, step daughter Aneita Burton of Lawrence, Vance Freeman of Lawrence, Dean Freeman of Lawrence, Alfred Freeman of McLouth, Wanda Salierno of Lawrence, Leonard Freeman of Lawrence, Mary Besser of Oskaloosa, Bill Freeman of Ottawa, and Angie Freeman of Lawrence; sisters, Jackie Van Hoy of Richmond. Missouri, Myrtle Lou Moon of Galena, MO, and Artie Anderson of Hollister, MO; 13 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, William Allen White, Chester L. White, Wayne B. White, Elbert R. White; sisters, Martha Alma Loftis, and Hazel V. Pitchford.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, where the family will receive them from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, sent in care of the funeral home.
