Funeral services for Wauneta L. Burton, 89, Baldwin City, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home in Lawrence, KS. Burial will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Frankfort Cemetery, in Frankfort, KS.
Mrs. Burton died Friday, May 12, 2017, at her home.
She was born June 15, 1927, in Frankfort, KS, the daughter of Clifford and Thelma Irene Marshall Welch. She has lived in Baldwin City area the majority of her life.
Mrs. Burton worked as a switchboard operator. She enjoyed going to the casino, playing bingo, and bowling.
She married Lyman E. Burton January 19, 1946. He died in 1991.
Survivors include children, Gary Burton and wife Korrina of Converse, TX, Judy Scott and husband Gary of San Antonio, TX, James Burton and wife Brenda of Baldwin City, KS, Kimberly Crabtree of Baldwin City, KS; sister, Betty Rudy of Weatherford, TX; grandchildren, Missy, Tabatha, Marcy, Vicky, Lisa, Julie, Bryan, Larry, Bruce, Rusty, Dustin, Travis, Joshua, Amber; 16 great grandsons; 16 great granddaughters; 7 great-great grandsons; and 1 great-great granddaughter.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Twyla Cerasari, Wanda Brumit, Beverly Zech; and brother, Bill Welch.
The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.
