LORANCE JR. 1932 – 2010 Bernard August “June” Lorance Jr., 77, Linwood, Kan., died Friday, May 21, 2010, at the Tonganoxie Nursing Center in Tonganoxie, Kan. A memorial service will be held at a later date. He was born July 14, 1932, in Kansas City, Kan., the son of Bernard August Lorance, Sr. and Mary Evelyn Proctor Lorance. He married Mary Frances Scheller on Feb. 12, 1955, at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Basehor. He farmed near Linwood and worked for the Basehor- Linwood School District, Lorance Construction, and Meyer Dairy. He served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Tonganoxie. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and a brother, Edward Lorance. Survivors include two sons, Mark Lorance and his wife Kathleen of Walnut Ridge, Ark., and Brian Lorance of Linwood, Kan.; two daughters, Jan Noffsinger and her husband Robert of Bermuda Dunes, Calif., and Lynn Reynolds and her husband Rory of Bountiful, Utah; his brother, Jim Lorance of Kansas City, Kan.; two sisters, Shirley Hanser of Gatewood, Mo., and Rose Marie Hart of Statesville, NC; seven grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Tonganoxie, Kan or the Lawrence Humane Society in care of the Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, PO Box 1260, Lawrence, KS 66044. Memorial services for Florence Mulder Mackie, 94, Lawrence, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.
Mrs. Mackie died Tuesday, July 20, 2010, at the VNA Care Cottage in Lawrence.
She was born Oct. 4, 1915, in Springfield, Mo., the daughter of Clarence and Ethel Melville Clarke.
Mrs. Mackie graduated from Drury College, Springfield, with a biochemistry degree and later did graduate work at Purdue University. She lived in Rochester, N.Y., and Ketchum, Idaho, before moving to Lawrence in 2001.
She was active in many philanthropic and volunteer activities. In Rochester, she was an active supporter of 3rd Presbyterian Church and community family service organizations. In Ketchum, her time, energy and financial contributions to the library and its thrift store, The Goldmine, were prominent.
Mrs. Mackie was an avid gardener while in Idaho. Her specialty was growing gardens of native plants. She enjoyed fishing, skiing the mountains of Idaho, spending time with her grandchildren, and was also an avid cross-country skier.
She married John Mulder in 1940. He preceded her in death in 1984.
She married John W. Mackie Jr. in 1989. He preceded her in death in 2003.
She was also preceded in death by her children Jon G. Mulder and Jean Mulder Beebe; and a grandson, Ben Beebe.
Survivors include a daughter, Allison Mackie Haworth and husband Gary, Lawrence; two sons, Andrew Mackie and wife Kathleen, Ottawa, and Jack Mackie and wife Joy, Houston; a daughter-in-law, Dee Carr; a son-in-law, Hugh Beebe; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two nieces.

Robert Walter Eggert

Funeral services for Robert Walter Eggert, 82, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Eggert died Thursday, July 22, 2010, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born Jan. 16, 1928, in Lawrence, the son of Robert and Florence Wheeler Eggert. He attended Lawrence High School and then served in the Army and was stationed in South Korea. He returned to Lawrence and majored in accounting at Kansas University.
Upon graduation he embarked on a 20-year career as an accountant with Mobil Oil in California, Venezuela, New York, Paris, and Tripoli, Libya. He was a rural mail carrier in Lawrence for 20 years and was active in civic groups including Landlords of Lawrence, NARFE, Elks Club and East Lawrence Neighborhood Association. He attended high school reunions and coffee clubs with classmates.
He raised two small children in Libya with his wife and returned to Lawrence in 1967.
He met his future bride, Gladys Montero, in Venezuela, and they married in Paris in 1961. She died in February 2010.
Survivors include a son, Robert W. Jr. and wife Amy, Houston, Texas; a daughter, Carolyn Pannier and husband Paul, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; a sister, Florence Jean Eggert, Lawrence, and four grandchildren, Allison Eggert, Robert Eggert III, and Christopher and Catherine Pannier.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, where the family will receive them from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. and from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Wednesday before the service.

Alfred J. Yost
Services for Alfred J. Yost, 75, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery. Mr. Yost died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2006, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born June 6, 1930, in Alexander, the son of Adam John and Lydia Georg Yost. He graduated from LaCrosse High School in 1948 and the Kansas City College of Mortuary Science in 1951.He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict from January 1953 until January 1955.He worked for the Lamb Funeral Home in Ottawa and Culbertson Funeral Home in Wichita. In 1964 he purchased the Fisher Funeral Home in Wellington, which became Yost Funeral Home; he owned it for 13 years. He purchased the Rumsey Funeral Home in Lawrence in 1978, which later became Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home & Crematory, where he worked until his death.He received a 50 Years of Service award in the funeral industry in 2001.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lawrence, the Sertoma Club of Lawrence, American Legion Dorsey-Liberty Post 14, Ottawa Lodge No. 18 A.F. & A.M., Kansas Funeral Directors Assn., National Funeral Directors Assn. and the Lawrence Country Club.
He married Fleda Ann “Shorty” Drake on June 5, 1955, in Ottawa. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include two sons, Brad, Fairway, and Bart, Lawrence; a sister, Martha Nemeth, Topeka; and two grandchildren Drake Yost of Fairway and Taylor Yost of Lawrence.
