Opal F. Facklam

Funeral services for Opal F. Facklam, 82, Winchester, formerly of Lawrence, will be at 10 am Monday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, with Lt. Matt McCluer of the Salvation Army officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Facklam died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2012, in Winchester.

She was born July 12, 1930, in Woodston, Kan., the daughter of Clarence J. and Nellie Maie Bolon Worden. She attended schools in Woodston.

Mrs. Facklam worked as a crossing guard for 12 years. She previously had worked at Lawrence Laundry and Cherry Manor. She enjoyed needleworking and volunteering at the Salvation Army.

She married Warren N. Facklam on Oct. 2, 1956, in Lawrence. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include a son, Raymond House and wife Wanda, Pocatello, Idaho; grandchildren Amy Schoen (Michael), Beverly Taylor (Donald), and Raymond House Jr. (Amber); great grandchildren Michaela Schoen and Brandon Taylor; step grandson Kevin Parks; step granddaughter Kelsey Parks; and step great grandson Joshua Parks.

Friends may call from 8 am to 8 pm Sunday at the funeral home. The family will receive friends from 9 am until service time Monday.

Glen Ernest Hutcherson Jr.

Funeral services for Glen Ernest Hutcherson Jr., 88, Lawrence, will be 10 a.m. Thursday, August 9, 2012 at Old Mission United Methodist Church in Fairway, Kansas. Burial will follow at Englewood Cemetery in Clinton, Missouri.

Mr. Hutcherson died Monday, August 6, 2012, at Brandon Woods at Alvamar, in Lawrence, Kansas.

He was born August 24, 1923, in rural Clinton, Missouri, the son of Glen Ernest and Iva Mae Shobe Hutcherson, Sr. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1941.

Mr. Hutcherson worked as a District Sales Manager for Ken Tile Floors Inc. retiring in 1987. He enjoyed woodworking in his spare time. Glen was witty, kind, gentle, and a devoted husband, son, and brother.

He married Mary Louisa Newman on August 1, 1957 in Kansas City, Missouri. They recently celebrated 55 years together. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include a first cousin, Elizabeth Hutcherson of Clinton, Missouri, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers; Eugene, Maurice, and James Hutcherson.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 8, at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, 601 Indiana Street, Lawrence, KS 66044. The family will receive friends from 9:15 a.m. to 10 a.m. Thursday at Old Mission United Methodist Church.

Dale A. Mayhew Sr.

Born August 1, 1932 in Lawrence, Kansas and passed away in his home on August 3, 2012. He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Harrison Mayhew and Ida Viola Tevis, and two beloved sisters, Virginia “Kathleen” Knight and Joan Thompson. He is survived by two children, Dale Arthur Mayhew Jr of Missouri and Victoria Mayhew Kushima of Hawaii. 5 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Burial will be at Underwood Cemetery.

Dayrl E. Wrightsman

Funeral services for Dayrl E. Wrightsman, 87, Linwood, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, with Pastor Paul Pruett officiating, Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Wrightsman went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Aug. 3, 2012, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born Nov. 11, 1924, in Wichita, the son of Samuel and Beulah Thomas Wrightsman. He served in the U.S. Army.

Mr. Wrightsman farmed since 1961, and had also delivered fuel for Standard Oil. He later worked at Farmland for 28 years

He married Helen Naomi Miller in 1949. She survives of the home. Other survivors include a son, Gregory Dean Wrightsman (Michelle Kriner), Winfield, Penn., and a daughter, Darla Scott (Leonard), Osawatomie, and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons, an infant, and Jeffrey Allen Wrightsman in 2001, two brothers, and a sister.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time Monday.

Venita B. Hickman

No public services are planned for Venita B. Hickman, 84, Lawrence. Cremation is planned.

Mrs. Hickman died Thursday, July 26, 2012, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

She was born Dec. 6, 1927, in Garden City, Kan., the daughter of Oscar J. and Ruth Meadows Downing. She graduated from high school and later earned a bachelor’s degree.

Mrs. Hickman was a homemaker.

Survivors include a son, Randy Hickman, Lawrence.

Eventual inurnment will be in Deerfield, Kan.

Betty J. Corel

Funeral services for Betty J. Corel, 44, Lecompton, will be at 9am. Wed., July 25, 2012 at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Burcham officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Lecompton.

Betty died Fri. July 20, at her home. She was born Apr. 17, 1968 in Windsor, MO, the daughter of James and Justine Barrett McNish.

She graduated Perry-Lecompton High School in 1986. She worked for Honeywell Corp. in Lawrence for 18 years and worked for the State of Kansas as a Housing Inspector in the Kansas Housing Resources Corporation.

She was the Lecompton Township Fire Department Treasurer and on the Lecompton Planning Committee.

She married Ivan Corel, he survives of the home. Other survivors a son, Quade, daughters, Erin, Jena, and Kari all of the home, brothers, Earl of Baldwin City, Paul of New Orleans, Tim of Lecompton, and Tom of Lawrence, sisters Mary Markmann of Sedalia, Linda McNish and Judy McNish both of Lawrence.

Friends may call Tuesday noon to 8pm. where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8pm at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.

Mary O. Domyon

Memorial services for Mary O. Domyon, 90, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Danforth Chapel on the KU campus.

Mrs. Domyon died Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at her home. She was born May 7, 1922 in Slovakia, the daughter of Peter and Mary Breznoscak Obletiloff.

Mrs. Domyon was married on June 1, 1947, in Clifton, NJ to Rudy Domyon, he survives of the home.

Other survivors include two daughters, Janet Graybill and husband Bill, Lawrence, and Karen Wukich and husband Joe, Charlotte, NC; two grandchildren, Kellie and Nathan Graybill; and a sister, Regina Rutledge. She was preceded in death by a brother, John Obletiloff, and a sister, Anna Moore.

Robert ‘Bob’ V. Hirschberg

A Celebration of Life for Robert ‘Bob’ V. Hirschberg, 86, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Monday, July 23, 2012, at Clinton Parkway Assembly of God 360 Church, with the Rev. Rick Burwick officiating.

Mr. Hirschberg died Sunday, July 15, 2012, at Lawrence Memorial Hosptial.

He was born Dec. 22, 1925, in Topeka, the son of Albert and Mary Opal Wooten Hirschberg. He graduated from Topeka High School and later attended Central Bible College in Springfield, Mo.

Mr. Hirschberg worked as an engine foreman for Santa Fe Railway, and retired in 1987 after 35 years of service. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen, the United Transportation Union, and DCARSP. He attended Clinton Parkway 360 Church, and enjoyed traveling, reading, and photography.

He married Aleta M. Jones on Feb. 23, 1950, in Lawrence. She survives of the home. Other survivors include a sister, Jo Anne Pearson, Gold River, Calif., and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Don and Leonard, and a sister, Erma Gering.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time Monday at the church.
